System Strategy Definition and Review

Before embarking on any new initiative, it is important to have a clear strategy, mapping the requirements of the business to specific technology deliveries. There are many possible approaches which can be taken to address requirements, each with their own advantages and challenges. Solutions appropriate for one organisation will not necessarily be appropriate for another. Excelian offers its Commodity clients extensive technology and system strategy experience and a service to deliver the following:

  • Identify and quantify business requirements
  • Review a range of possible implementation strategies
  • Agree the most beneficial approach and gain consensus
  • Map a strategy into a concrete action plan
  • Initiate technology or system selection process

System Selection

The next step of the lifecycle is system selection and, given the wide variety of tradeable assets and the many participation models, this can mean a very time-consuming process to evaluate multiple internal and 3rd party systems.

Making the right decisions when replacing or upgrading a system is crucial and requires in depth knowledge of the products on offer and their potential application within an organisation. Where clients do not have the bandwidth or expertise to perform these evaluations, Excelian can provide partner level resource offering the following:

  • Technology, application and commodity market expertise
  • Tried and tested methodology for RFI and system selection
  • Options assessed in readily understandable and balanced manner
  • Acting as independent advisor to protect client’s interests
