Concerned by increasing pressure from investors and media and driven to improve their environmental credentials, client X appr oached Excelian to help develop an effective and successful environmental strategy.

Understanding that environmental performance had not been previously perceived as a cost to business, Excelian.s first task was to produce a comprehensiv e review of all activities within the client.s London headquarters by undertaking a detailed environmental audit. Using the knowledge gained from this basel ine review, Excelian provided the client with a comprehensive and benchmarked report detailing all environmental impacts, providing advice on raising staff a wareness and the framework to develop a formal environmental policy that accurately reflected their operations.

Furthermore, the environmental audit also summarised the client.s environmental performance through the creation of a bespoke carbon footprint (inline wi th the GHG protocol). This formalised procedure allowed the client to then create a baseline of their activities in order to begin the process of setting ob jectives and targets to improve their environmental performance.

Following their environment audit report, and realising the opportunities of developing a holistic system to attend to their environmental impacts, the cl ients decided to implement a formal Environmental Management System (EMS). Excelian assisted by providing support in formulating the correct procedures and d ocumentation, providing training and education, creating meaningful objectives and targets and ensuring legal compliance. By using this unique service, the c lient was able to create the framework required in order to gain formal third party accreditation to achieve ISO 14001.

As part of this environmental strategy, Excelian is now working towards reducing the client.s carbon footprint of their aging IT equipment by implementin g innovative Green IT strategy from a vendor neural position. As part of this overall carbon reduction strategy, Excelian was also able to offer independent expert advice to create a management and reduction strategy to offset unavoidable carbon emissions.
